ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Sometimes your biggest competition is the guy you sat beside on the bus to the meet. This was the case for the Olivet Nazarene University men’s swim team, at least in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly. The Tigers went 1-2-3 in both events at the dual-meet with Lewis University (Ill.) on Saturday, Jan. 19. Olivet captured a total of seven events, winning the meet 137-125.
Junior Simon Pheasant (Alexandria, South Africa), who joined the Tigers over the Christmas break and missed the team’s first meet waiting for the NAIA to clear him, wasted no time contributing to the team. Pheasant captured first place in the 100-yard butterfly (53.60) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.29), while taking second in the 50-freestyle (21.97).
