BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – With the help of four second half goals the Olivet Nazarene University men’s soccer team surged past Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in a CCAC contest on October 13 for a 4-0 win.

The first half remained quiet as both teams used their defense to keep the score 0-0.  Neither team made a real threat on the opposing team’s goal until the second half.

Six minutes into the half sophomore Paddy Hoepp (Frankfurt, Germany) put the Tigers (7-4-3, 3-2-2) on the board finishing a penalty kick after a tough foul in the box.  Three minutes later ONU started to put the heat on the Crimson Wave (5-9, 3-4) scoring again when junior Michael Da Silva (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) put in a goal off the foot of Hoepp.

At this point there was no stopping the Tiger attack as Robby Gunderson (Downers Grove, Ill.) headed in a nifty goal off a perfectly placed ball from Richard Paret (West Chicago,Ill.) at the 74:09 mark. Olivet was able to make an even four goal lead when Da Silva scored his seventh goal of the year and third of the week when Steve Lacosse (Manteno, Ill.) played in a ball from the corner to his feet.

Olivet out-shot the Crimson Wave by a 10-6 a advantage. Freshman goalkeeper Zach Chambers (Flanders, N.J.) started his 10th game and recorded his second shutout of the season against Calumet.

Olivet will be back in conference action on Wednesday, October 17 to host No. 25 Robert Morris University (Ill.) at 6 p.m.
