CHICAGO --- A near-perfect afternoon locked down Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Olivet Nazarene University's Austin Davis (North Augusta, S. Car.) for the week ending Dec. 16, it was announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
A 5-11 sophomore guard,Davis missed only one shot from the field and just one attempt from the free throw line en route to a 32-point performance in a 78-63 conference victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph Saturday afternoon.
Davismade his first 10 shots of the game, seven of which were three-pointers, before missing his only attempt from the field. The seven treys tied a school record set by six previous Tiger players.
Davis also went 5-for-6 from the foul line and added three assists and one rebound in ONU's lone game of the week.
The win put the Tigers one game below the .500 mark for the season (6-7), while boosting their league record to 4-5.
Davis's 32 points is a career-high and his seven three-pointers ties a school record for threes made in an individual game; he is tied with six other Tigers.
