Olivet’s Green Room theatre group presents the student production of “Middletown,” a deeply moving and funny play exploring the universe of a small town in the United States. Seniors Hannah Williams and Ron Gamache direct the cast of Olivet students. Jerry Cohagan, theatre professor, is the group’s faculty sponsor.

Show times are at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 3; Friday, April 4; and Saturday, April 5, 2014. The production will be presented on stage in Kresge Auditorium in Larsen Fine Arts Center on Olivet’s campus. Tickets are $5 ($2.50 for students with I.D.), available for purchase at the door. For more information or to reserve tickets, call 815-928-5543 or email hewilliams@olivet.edu.

The production of “Middletown” marks Hannah Williams' directing debut, but she is no stranger to the stage. She has appeared in ten productions while at Olivet. A senior from Beavercreek, Ohio, she is majoring in corporate communications and theatre, and is also the president of Green Room.

Ronald Gamache III a senior majoring in corporate communications, is from Flint, Mich. This is his 10th ONU production. He was the director of “Broadway Revue” for two years and is currently serving as the co-president of Green Room. Most recently, he has appeared on stage in “The Music Man,” “God’s Favorite,” “Once Upon a Mattress” and “These Shining Lives.”

Playwright Will Eno captures the intersection of lives in Middletown by exploring the friendship between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson. The strange and poignant journey takes them from the local library to outer space and points between. “Middletown is about life and what we do with the time in the middle,” Hannah says. “We all long for the best possible life. There is beauty in how we fill the middle. Extraordinary is woven into the ordinary.”
