ONU baseball to honor members of military on “Armed Forces Day”
Posted: Apr 24, 2013
Olivet will host the third annual “Armed Forces Day” as part of the Tiger baseball game at Watson Field on Friday, April 26, 2013. Festivities will begin at 3:15 p.m. with the first pitch slated for 3:30. Olivet invites veterans and members of all branches of service to attend this great day of baseball and celebration of our nation’s armed forces.
That day, ONU will honor its 2013 Army ROTC “Roaring Tiger Battalion” graduates who will be commissioned on Saturday, May 4, for duties in the United States Army.
Also as part of this special event, a full color guard from local veterans’ associations will represent each branch of the United States Military.
“Honoring those who have served, are serving and plan to serve our country in the military is a great privilege for Olivet,” said Todd Reid, Olivet’s head baseball coach. “We are setting aside this time for special recognition of their valuable contributions. They are an example of sacrificial service and patriotic pride, especially for our young men and women.”
There is no admission charge for this event. For more information, contact Nick Birkey, men’s sports information director, at 815-928-5565 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
