Casting Crowns to perform at Olivet in March

Shine.FM announces the newest addition to the 2013 concert calendar: Casting Crowns on Saturday, March 23. “The Acoustic Sessions Live” concert, featuring special guest Dara Maclean, takes place at the Betty and Kenneth Hawkins Centennial Chapel on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Ill., beginning at 6 p.m.

For the past nine years, Casting Crowns has delivered passionate, thought-provoking contemporary Christian music to a growing audience. Group members Mark Hall, Megan Garrett, Melodee DeVevo, Hector Cervantes, Chris Huffman, Juan DeVevo and Brian Scroggin continue to juggle faith, family, music and ministry as one of Christian music’s most successful acts. They are also committed to ministering in their home churches.

Casting Crowns has sold more than 8.2 million albums to date (according to Nielsen SoundScan) and has been named Billboard magazine's top-selling Christian act for the past four years.

Recently, the group received three Grammy Award nominations for the 2013 awards: Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance category for “Jesus Friend of Sinners”; Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category for the 2011 RIAA Gold certified “Come to the Well”; and group member Mark Hall in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Song category for “Jesus Friend of Sinners.”

Since the group launched in 2003, the band has garnered 14 Dove Awards, three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award. In addition, the band has had three Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Platinum albums (Casting Crowns, Lifesong, Altar and The Door), two RIAA Platinum DVDs (Live From Atlanta and Lifesong Live), two RIAA Gold albums (Until the Whole World Hears, Peace on Earth) and two Gold DVDs (Altar and The Door Live and Until The Whole World Hears Live).
