Professor Mercer has been an associate professor of Christian ministries at Olivet Nazarene University since the fall of 2004.
Prior to coming to Olivet, Professor Mercer and his wife were career missionaries with the General Board International, Church of the Nazarene, serving for 25 years in South Korea.
Professor Mercer’s last responsibility was field director of Korea. During his time in Korea he served in various capacities as field treasurer, district advisory board member, interim college president and associate professor at Korea Nazarene University, where he taught Wesleyan Theology, Doctrine of Holiness, Johannine Writings, Science and Religion, Third World Religions and Christianity, and English as a Second Language. Professor Mercer was assigned to Korea following two pastoral assignments in the state of Illinois, where he was ordained as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to teaching at Olivet, Professor Mercer is employed by the Chicago Central District as a liaison and assistant for Asian ministries.
