Dr. Franklin’s academic interests include philosophical theology, systematic theology and the history of Western thought.
He has been honored as President Emeritus of Tokyo Christian University and with a Ford Foundation Fellowship. He also serves on the international board of directors for William Carey University in Shillong, India.
A published author, Dr. Franklin’s credits include “Speaking from the Depths” (Grand Rapids, Mich., 1991) and “Faith, Learning, and Life: The Identity of a Christian University” (in Japanese: Tokyo, 2006).
He and his wife, Martha, have two grown children, two grandchildren and a dog. In his spare time, he enjoys drama, Asian art and travel.
