Deborah Wright

School of Nursing and Health Sciences

M.S.N, 2012, Olivet Nazarene University
B.S.N., 2000, Olivet Nazarene University

Professor Wright joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2014. She teaches courses in pediatric nursing (child health nursing), the area of nursing in which she has a wealth of experience.

As a registered nurse, she devoted eight years of her career to pediatrics and served as a charge nurse for four of those years. Her career has also included a short stint in a birthing center and three years in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She is also a RTS Certified Bereavement Support Person and is PALS Certified (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).

In 2012, she received the Master's Student of Excellence Award from Olivet. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nurses Honor's Society and the local Kappa Sigma Chapter.

As a woman of God, Professor Wright has received two callings from God on her life: wife/mother and nurse educator. She willingly and joyfully accepts the assignment of serving her husband, her children and her students.

One of her greatest joys is singing and listening to music. At her church, she serves on the worship team, directs children’s ministries and teaches Sunday school classes. Interior design is one of her interests, and she enjoys making a house into a warm home. For her leisure time, she loves to read and spend time outdoors — especially near the ocean — with her family. She considers all time spent with her boys to be her most cherished moments.

Her husband, John, is a pastor, and they are the parents of three sons: A.J., Joshua and Isaiah. Whatever they are doing, they love to laugh and have fun together.

Proverbs

22:6

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
