As Level II Coordinator in Olivet’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Professor Rose enjoys helping students set and achieve their goals. She came to ONU in 2008 and currently teaches courses in mental health nursing and leadership/trends in nursing. She also serves on the Continuing Education and Admission, Progression and Retention, Curriculum, and Virtual Learning Center committees.
Before joining Olivet’s faculty, Professor Rose was on staff at Kankakee Area Career Center as the program coordinator for the Certified Nurse Aide Program. She has more than 25 years of nursing experience in the fields of behavioral health and substance abuse, and gerontology.
In 2014, Professor Rose was chosen as a Student Scholar by the American Psychiatric Nurses Association Board of Directors. In 2004, the City of Kankakee honored her with a Certificate of Appreciation as part of “A Culture of Caring” emphasis during Black History Month. In 2006, she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honor society. She served as vice president for Olivet’s Kappa Sigma chapter from 2009 to 2011 and continues as a member of the Lambda Lambda chapter at Governors State University. In 2012, the 5th Brigade U.S. Army Cadet Command honored her with the Partners in Nursing Excellence Award.
She is a member of the Kankakee River Valley Parish Nurse Council and the Parish Nurse Ministry at the Second Baptist Church of Kankakee.
For her leisure activities, she enjoys gardening, historical and cultural events, and art. She and her husband, Hampton, have four daughters, one son and ten grandchildren.
