As Benner Library’s access services librarian, Professor Olney manages all circulation activities — main circulation, course reserves and stacks management — as well as 18 student workers and two staff members. He also oversees the Holiness Collection, handling material selection, processing, policy development and community engagement. In the area of copyright, he coordinates policy development and other campus efforts on behalf of the University.
He began his library work as a college student in 2004. He became a full-time staff member at Olivet in 2009 and joined the faculty in 2012. He is a member of the Association of Christian Librarians.
His love of sports led him into sports broadcasting for Olivet, providing play-by-play for Tiger women’s volleyball (since 2009) and Tiger baseball (since 2012). Raised in the Pacific Northwest, he remains an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners major league baseball team and the University of Oregon Ducks.
He and his wife, Amber, are expecting their first child in January 2013.
