When discussing her students, Dr. Richardson has no trouble bragging about their accomplishments, and enjoys sharing how Olivet has contributed to their success.

Chair of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in the School of Professional Studies and a professor, she currently teaches courses in interior design, fashion merchandising and education. Olivet has previously honored her with the Faculty Member of the Year award.

Dr. Richardson has earned the CFCS certification in Family and Consumer Science through the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Her professional memberships include: American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) and National Association Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences (NATFACS). She is also a member of Kappa Omicron Nu, the human sciences national honor society, and Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in the field of education.

She and her husband, Kenneth, have three daughters: Tara and her husband, Matthew, and their children in Pennsylvania; Tiffany and her husband, Jeff, and their sons in Bourbonnais; and Tai and her husband, David, and their children in Georgia.

In her leisure time, she enjoys the quieter activities of quilting and reading, as well as outdoor activities like biking, hiking and boating.
