Patricia Nielsen

A member of Olivet’s faculty since 2005, Dr. Nielsen currently serves as interim director for post-licensure nursing. She was instrumental in developing the curriculum for the new Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialty track in the Master’s of Nursing program, working full time for more than six months to write it. This track is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Graduates will be eligible to sit for the certification exam offered through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and to apply for an FNP license through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Her area of specialty is emergency medicine. She has presented her research on stroke protocol [link to] at Mayo Clinic.

She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

In her leisure time, she enjoys many activities with her family: husband, Andrew; son, Jon, and his wife, Emily, and their daughter, Elizabeth; son, Doug, and his wife, Katie; and son, Andrew, and his wife, Sara. Dr. Nielsen proudly shares that all of her children and their spouses are ONU graduates.
