Favorite class at Olivet: My favorite class at Olivet was event planning. I loved being able to execute and plan my own event while discussing organization skills in class.

Best Olivet memory: Participating in the Ollies Follies variety shows as a choreographer. What an adrenaline rush! Especially during my senior year with all the emotions and nostalgia.

Favorite ONU prof and why: Professor Randy Dodd, my Christian faith teacher during my senior year. I took it as a night class on Tuesdays. Not only did he have me laughing until I cried, but I also gained spiritual knowledge that challenged me and got me excited about my relationship with God.

What makes Olivet different from other universities? The student body, faculty and staff pour so much into one another. Whether that’s a smile/wave in passing or a coffee meet-up that goes three hours instead of one. The people here are truly compassionate and intentional with one another.

Hobbies: I enjoy reading, running, hiking, watching movies and shopping. On my weekends, I enjoy listening to Michael Bublé as I bake or hitting up the farmer’s market in town on Saturday mornings.

Favorite extracurricular activity as a student: I was a Zumba Fitness dance instructor at The Perry Student Life & Recreation Center, which I really enjoyed! Seeing people come together to work out, and then seeing them laughing and smiling brought me so much joy.

Favorite college trip: I went on a mission trip to the Englewood area in Chicago. Even though I’m from the Chicago suburbs, I experienced a culture shock on this trip. It really opened my eyes. We were able to bring light into the darkness happening on the south side of Chicago.

Advice for new students: You will feel anxious and homesick the first couple weeks of school. Don’t let the enemy keep you in your dorm room or send you home every weekend. Other students are in your same boat. Get out there and try things you didn’t do in high school. Remember, this is a fresh start for a new you!

Favorite Bible verse: “She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” Proverbs 3:15

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
