Stacy McMichael

Equally proficient on upright bass and electric bass, Ms. Stacy McMichael performs comfortably within a broad range of genres and styles. As an active professional bassist, Stacy has played with hundreds of artists in countless settings. Highlights include performing with Joan Rivers, Ivanka Trump and Joe Piscopo.

Ms. McMichael co-leads a French-speaking jazz ensemble that recently performed at “Jean’s Jazz Series” at the Racine Theatre Guild, Lyric Opera Riverside Chapter Gala, Chicago Cultural Center’s “Music Without Borders” series, and 2011 & 2012 editions of Milwaukee’s Bastille Days Festival. Stacy’s compositions have been placed in television commercials, and she recently penned the theme song for the upcoming feature film “Roundabout American” currently in production. Her recording runs the gamut of genres, and includes the title track for the 2011 Eric Roberts feature film “The Wayshower,” the New World Symphony, gypsy-jazz ensemble lePercolateur, Assyrian pop star Joe Ivanoff, and celtic artist Catherine O’Connor.

Ms. McMichael received her master’s degree (jazz bass performance and pedagogy) from the prestigious University of Miami Jazz School, where she studied with legendary performer/educator Dr. Lucas Drew, and her bachelor’s degree (double bass performance) from the University of Nebraska - Omaha.

Stacy McMichael has served as both a visiting professor and clinician at Saint Xavier University and is the adjunct professor of double bass at Olivet Nazarene University.
