Rachel Jacklin

School of Music

M.Mus. (Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy), Cleveland Institute of Music
B.M. (Violin Performance), University of Arizona

Professor Jacklin grew up in a musical family and began playing the violin at the age of three. What started as an early love for music has continued to grow throughout the years. She joined Olivet’s music faculty in 2008 and maintains a studio of 25 to 30 applied students annually.

As a passionate educator with more than 20 years of experience, she enjoys the challenges and rewards of working with unique individuals, and strives to lead every student to his/her highest potential. In addition to working with applied students, she also works closely with the ONU orchestra program, leading violin and viola sectionals and coaching string chamber ensembles.

An active soloist, orchestral and chamber musician in central Illinois, Professor Jacklin enjoys a robust playing schedule. In addition to solo and chamber recitals throughout the United States, she has appeared as a soloist with the ONU University Orchestra, Catalina Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque, the University of Arizona Symphony and the Albuquerque Youth Symphony.

Currently, as an orchestral musician, she is the concertmaster of the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra. She is also a member of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and performs on a regular basis with the Heartland Festival Orchestra. Her previous notable orchestral positions include the New Mexico Symphony, the Santa Fe Symphony, concertmaster of the Austrian American Mozart Academy and concertmaster of the Catalina Chamber Orchestra.

As a chamber musician, she has enjoyed numerous guest appearances with the Arcadia Chamber Players and the Sierra Trio, as well as frequent collaborations with other music faculty members at ONU.

Professor Jacklin and her husband, Matt, currently reside in Bourbonnais. They are the parents of four children.
