Professor Mylcraine joined Olivet's full-time faculty in 2015. She teaches courses in childbearing and family health for nursing majors.
Her nursing career spans more than 32 years and prepared her well for the classes she would teach to nursing students. As a nurse, she began working in long-term care and continued in a hospital-based medical-surgical unit. Then she completed more than 22 years exclusively in obstetrics. She also organized and managed obstetric-related emergency drills and simulations. For three years, she served as the staff educator for her hospital work unit.
From 2012 to 2015 as a clinical adjunct faculty member at Olivet, Professor Mylcraine served as a clinical instructor for the childbearing course. She is also a Certified Instructor for NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) and a Certified Lactation Counselor, and is certified in Inpatient Obstetrics.
In 1996, she received the Nurse of the Year Award from Hospital March of Dimes. She is a member of AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses) and Sigma Theta Tau, the international nursing honor society.
Professor Mylcraine and her husband, David, are the parents of two children and have one grandson. Family time is most important to her. She also enjoys reading and scrapbooking in her leisure time.
One Bible verse that guides her is Psalm 119:105, "Your Word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path."
