Professor Schroers joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2016. She is the Level I ABSN coordinator and teaches various courses in the ABSN track. Her area of specialty is maternal-child nursing. She holds certifications in maternal-child nursing (RNC-MNN) and as an academic nurse educator (CNE).
She began her nursing career in 1997. For more than ten years, she served as a staff nurse in the fields of maternal-child nursing, neonatal ICU, pediatrics and medical-surgical nursing. She also has ten years of teaching experience, both in the community and academia. Her most recent academic teaching experience was at Loyola University, Chicago, where she was a simulation educator, the skills lab lead instructor and a clinical instructor. Her work in interprofessional education included teaching medical, nursing and dietetics students.
Currently, Professor Schroers is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in nursing education. Her research will focus on patient safety. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and National League for Nursing.
She and her husband, Michael, are the parents of three sons, Matthew, Nathan and Ian. She enjoys spending her leisure time with her family: traveling, exploring the outdoors, skiing and a lot of time at the soccer fields watching her sons’ games.
