Biological Sciences

Ph.D., 1989, The Ohio State University
M.S., 1983, Purdue University
B.A., 1978, Taylor University

Studying the molecular biology of rotavirus, a virus that causes severe gastrointestinal infections in children, was Dr. Ginn’s focus when he earned his doctoral degree in microbiology from The Ohio State University.

In 1992, he joined Olivet’s faculty after working as a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Ohio.

At Olivet, Dr. Ginn teaches microbiology, genetics, advanced genetics and developmental biology. In his advanced genetics class, students study current molecular genetic techniques. In his developmental biology course, students learn the scientific method by performing independent research projects. Many students have worked with him on laboratory research projects.

Dr. Ginn’s interests include adapting current biological laboratory research techniques to the teaching laboratory.

His wife, Denise, is a medical technologist at Presence St. Mary's Hospital Laboratory. They have two sons, David and Brian, and attend GatheringPoint Church of the Nazarene.
