Professor Young joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2015. With a wealth of experience from his 25 years of practicing engineering, he is teaching the structural portions of architectural engineering: structural analysis, steel design and reinforced concrete design.

A Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Illinois, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana, he has been the Professional of Record for more than 1,500 buildings. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Structural Engineers’ Association of Illinois.

Professor Young and his wife, Anne, have been married since 1990 and are the parents of five children: Elizabeth, Hannah, Michael, Daniel and Christopher. His varied recreational pursuits include kayaking, racquetball and stained glass art.
