Courtney Brown

College of Arts and Sciences

English

M.A. (English), 2009, Arcadia University
B.A. (Psychology), 2003, Olivet Nazarene University

Professor Brown joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2015. She teaches writing and composition.

Before teaching at Olivet, she taught for two and one-half years at Korea Nazarene University. She also worked as a freelance writer and editor for three years.

Her studies for her master’s degree included a summer in the selective SUISS (Scottish Universities International Summer School) program through the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. As a top English major, she was in high demand as a research assistant among professors in her department who were publishing papers and articles.

In 2011, Professor Brown’s short play, “Best Laid Plans,” was a contest finalist and also performed in the Valley Repertory Company’s annual 15-minute play festival in Connecticut. She has written articles for a variety of publications, including “Teachers of Vision” and “The Lookout.”

A lover of good stories, she equally enjoys reading, watching or writing them. And combining any piece of that with travel puts her firmly in her element.

Romans

12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
