Chris Perez

School of Business

M.B.A., 2002, University of Phoenix
B.A., 1999, Columbia College Chicago

Professor Perez joined Olivet’s full-time faculty in 2017. He teaches courses in marketing and in policy and strategy. His career experience includes over 18 years as a marketing professional in various roles, including client services, brand management, content innovation, product marketing and e-commerce. As an educator, he is excited to help students discover God as the Mastermind of work. His goal is to train world-class professionals who view marketing as a calling.

Before coming to Olivet, he served as the director of product marketing and e-commerce for Focus on the Family, a global Christian ministry. He and the team he directed were responsible for the promotional launch and product marketing management of hundreds of retail products (book, audio, film and interactive).

During his career, Professor Perez has been privileged to work alongside authors, affiliates and strategic partners on significant impact projects. Some project highlights for him are: Kingdom Man by Tony Evans, a Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) best seller; the award-winning Radio Theatre production of “The Chronicles of Narnia” (over 2 million sold in the series); and Focus on the Family’s “Adventures in Odyssey” (over 20 million audio products sold worldwide).

As a freelancer, he has worked with clients around the world in a variety of industries, from urgent care clinics to agricultural lending institutions, on marketing projects large and small.

“Every organization has a story to share,” Professor Perez says. “Without marketers, the story never gets told. Communities don't mobilize. Movements don't multiply. My desire is to help marketing majors see themselves as messengers who, strategically, serve and influence people.”

On Sundays, you may find Professor Perez wearing a neon yellow safety vest and waving an LED baton while volunteering in the parking lot ministry at his local church. He is a health and fitness enthusiast and once won third place in the Rocky Mountain State Games for table tennis. During the summer, he spends many days watching his son’s 15u competitive travel baseball team.

He and his wife, Rhoda, are the parents of two daughters and a son. They have been happily married since their wedding day in 1998.

One of his favorite Bible passages is Proverbs 3:5–6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs

And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
